What Are Deepfakes?

Deepfakes are fake videos or audios made using artificial intelligence to trick people. They look very real and are often used to impersonate someone you trust to steal money or personal information.

How to Protect Yourself From Deepfake Video Calls

Use the Deepfake Scan (also known as AI Video Scan on iOS) feature in Cifas JustMe to protect yourself from scammers during video calls. It helps ensure you're speaking to the genuine person, not an impostor.

How to Set Up Deepfake Scan on Android

  1. Open Cifas JustMe and select the Deepfake feature.
  2. Tap the permission prompt.
  3. When asked, tap Allow to enable deepfake scanning.

How to Set Up AI Video Scan iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Cifas JustMe and tap the AI Video Scan feature.
  2. For first-time users, a prompt will appear. Tap Take a Look to continue.

How to Start Detecting Deepfake Videos on Android

  1. During a video call, open Cifas JustMe and tap Deepfake.
  2. Tap Start Detection.
  3. Depending on your Android version:
  • For Android 14 and earlier: Tap START NOW.
  • For Android 15: Choose A single app, then Start recording and select your video call app. The recording starts automatically.
  1. Return to your video call. A notification at the top of your screen will confirm that deepfake detection is active.
  2. To stop detection, swipe down and tap the Screen Recorder notification.

How to Start Detecting Deepfake Videos on iPhone or iPad

  1. During a video call, open Cifas JustMe and tap AI Video Scan.
  2. Tap Start Detection.
  3. Select Cifas JustMe and tap Start Broadcast.
  4. Return to your video call. A notification will appear at the top of your screen confirming that detection is active.
  5. To stop detection, tap the Screen Recording button, then tap the Stop button.

If Cifas JustMe detects any anomalies, you will receive a notification. If no irregularities are found, the detection will automatically stop after 3 minutes.
